The Hammer

Due to its shape that consists of a head and a handle, the hammer has logically acquired this name. Simply put, a hammer is a candlestick with a long lower shadow and a close near the session’s high. The session can be in any time frame such as 1 minute, 2 minutes, 1 day etc. The real body makes up the upper part (with the close near the session’s high). The actual colour of the real body does not matter. However, some Forex traders do consider a hammer to be more bullish if the real body colour is white.

In your Forex trading course you will learn that the hammer’s long shadow also plays an important role when analysing the state of the market. The long shadows mirrors the fact that the market experienced a sell-off or a decline during the day but then the bulls gained control and closed the session off near the session’s high. Note that unless the shadow is double the height of the real body, the candle you are looking at is not a hammer. At the same time, if the candle has a long upper shadow the Forex market is telling you that the session has closed well of its highs and therefore that candle is not a hammer. This is a concept that you must focus on during your Forex training.

Also note that a hammer only appears at the end of a market down-trend, not an up-trend. For example, if you are analysing the Forex on a daily chart and spot a candle with features as described above, you have found a hammer. This is the point where the bulls start to gain control. When we think about it, the fact that the bulls have gained control and closed the session of near its high, we logically assume that the market is prone to changing; and rightly so. However, do not make the mistake of investing your money just because you have seen a hammer. Other chart characteristics are necessary to do this but spotting the hammer is the first step. A hammer does not mean that the trend will change direction, it means that the trend is prone to change. The trend may even pause for a few sessions while it builds up more power and continue in the original direction. If you have invested your money into the trend reversing upwards, this is the point where you need to exit the trade straight away.

Throughout your Forex trading course you should really pay close attention to this symbol but do not take it for granted. Whilst the correct analysis of the hammer, coupled with other Forex trading techniques can deliver fantastic results, equally a lack of attention, focus, analysis or even respect for the hammer can lead to substantial losses. If your analysis proves to be incorrect, you must ensure that you exit your trade to protect your investment. Simply, analyse more charts, try to spot the hammer and paper trade the Forex i.e. pretend to trade with money.

Make Your Cat Happy With Shredded Kitty Litter

Even since identity theft became ridiculously and frustratingly common, the sales of paper shredders have skyrocketed. These machines, which wear once really only used by government agencies and financial institutions, are now found in homes all across North America. A shredder can help you protect yourself from identity theft because it will destroy documents containing your private information (bank statements, credit card offers, etc.). Then you can either recycle the shreds or toss them in the trash. Or, if you’re a cat owner, you can make Kitty happy. Here’s how.

As you know, the cost of kitty litter can add up over a long period time, especially if you’re one of those conscientious pet owners who religiously scoops and cleans the box every few days. But you can get around buying those big, heavy bags of litter by using your paper shreds instead. Just shred your documents and line your cat’s box with the bits of paper. Be sure to use a lot of paper since cats love to dig. You may want to slowly introduce the paper over a couple of days or weeks because some felines are very finicky about their boxes and any abrupt changes can make them less than happy.

Some of the paper you can use for this include junk mail, newspapers, old correspondence, and so on. Just be aware that cats may not like the feel of glossy paper, so try to avoid it. (Plus, it won’t be as absorbent.)

Not only will using your paper shredder to create kitty litter save you money, it can be easier on your cat. Some kitties have very sensitive paws and they may find using the classic clay litter uncomfortable. This is especially true if the animal has recently been declawed. (Note: declawing is a truly barbaric practice that still goes on, unfortunately. If you’re thinking of doing it to your cat, don’t. It’s the equivalent of cutting off a good part of someone’s finger.) Just be aware that paper litter won’t last as long as the clay stuff, so you’re going to need to clean the box a bit more frequently.

If you give this a try and find that there’s litter all over your house, you can try the following things to make things a bit less messy:

1. Soak the paper in water with a little bit of environmentally friendly soap. Drain the water and then rinse the shreds sans soap.

2. Spread some baking soda on the paper and work the powder in. The baking soda will act as a deodorizer.

3. Squeeze out the water and let the mixture dry. Instant – and cleaner – kitty litter!

Finally, this can all be can be environmentally beneficial. Paper is totally biodegradable, so it won’t be sitting in a landfill for years and years. Also, you’re reusing something that would probably be thrown in the garbage anyway.

If you have a paper shredder and a feline (or two or three…), try using your shreds as kitty litter. You’ll be helping the environment, saving money, protecting yourself from identity theft and, best of all, making your cat(s) happy.

Stuttering (or stammering) is a voice disfluency, a speech disorder. When a person stutters, the normal flow of speech is disrupted by repetitions and/or prolongations of voice sounds. Frequently, an individual is also unable to start a word.

Child stuttering, toddler stuttering and adult stuttering are themes being studied by many scientists and speech specialists all around the world. The Stuttering Foundation of America, the National Stuttering Association, the National Center for Stuttering and individual speech therapists in general are all investigating why people stutter and finding effective and fast speech therapies.

Nevertheless, even though scientists have several theories and suspect a variety of causes for stuttering, the precise mechanisms causing this disability (also called stammering) are not understood. Some believe that many forms have genetic origins.

A common form of stuttering is neurogenic. Neurogenic stuttering arise from signal problems between the brain and nerves or muscles. In neurogenic stuttering, the brain is unable to adequately coordinate the different components of speech mechanism.

The disruptions of speech may be accompanied by tremors of the lips and/or jaw, rapid eye blinks and other movements. This disorder commonly becomes more severe when speaking in front of a group of people or on the phone. On the other hand, speaking alone and singing might generally improve it or disappear completely.

Over three million Americans stutter. Stuttering affects all ages, but most frequently, children between the ages of 2 and 6 are the most affected. Preschool and toddler stuttering are especially affected while they are developing their language. When they grow up, most of them improve or cure. One percent or less of adults stutters.

Many famous people stutter. Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Willis, Winston Churchill and Mel Tillis are only a few whose success was not impeded by stuttering. Their speech language issue did not stop them to excel and express themselves magnificently.

Innocent Until Proven Guilty

If you have ever watched the show “Cops”, or any other police reality show for that matter, then you ve seen the line: All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. While this may be true, the time before a suspect actually reaches a court room could be days, weeks, months, and in the some extreme cases up to a year or more. In some cases this could make for tragic consequences for those who are innocent. There are ways to circumvent sitting in a cell waiting for a trial date to come. One particular way to do this is by posting bail or enlisting the help of a bail bondsman. These are more favorable options than busting out of prison, a la “Shawkshank Redemption”, or waiting for the real criminal to be caught, if the suspect actually is innocent.

If making bail is not an option because the total amount is too high then enlisting the help of a bail bondsman can mean the difference between sitting in county lock up and sitting in your living room watching your favorite Friday night reality show. This is known as a surety bond. When a bail bondsman agrees to post bail the defendant is required to produce 10% of the total amount of bail through the use of a cosigner. By accepting aid from a bail bondsman one is essentially entering into an agreement with the bail bondsman, the courts, and the cosigner that he or she is promising to appear in court on the appointed day.

While some people may use this second chance at freedom as an opportunity to skip town and leave their worries behind others can use this as a chance to prove that they are innocent. If someone does skip town while on bail the consequences are only negative. Not only is the person that cosigned out the money they have invested in getting the defendant out but the case of the defendant is only worsened by additional charges. This only furthers the fact that the defendant is guilty of whatever crime he or she is being charged for. On the other hand if a person posts bail, whether it is through a bail bondsman or not, and appears for the appointed court date it could have a positive effect on how the court views the defendant, since obviously an innocent person would not run. A well trained bail bonds also has intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the court system and can facilitate aid and assistance to those awaiting trial.

Of course going through a bail bondsman is not always a necessary option. The courts may in fact allow for defendants to post bail in other ways. If a person is a low flight risk they may issue a citation release, or cite out, in which the arresting officer issues a citation informing the defendant that they are to show up on an appointed date. Other forms of bail include recognizance, property bond, or an immigration bond if the defendant is an illegal immigrant.

The Only Reason You Don’t Want Android 3.0 On Your Tablet

The mobile world has awaited the arrival of ‘Honeycomb,’ the 3.0 release of Google’s runaway hit mobile device OS, Android. Android is already the dominant force in the mobile market with dozens of smartphones released by almost every manufacturer running on the open source platform. The Honeycomb release is a major move for Google, and according to Google executives, it was a major development effort as well.

The most important aspect of Honeycomb 3.0 is that this is the first Android OS version built and optimized especially for tablet PCs. Additionally, the graphics, menu systems, and display handling have been optimized for larger tablet screens. Could this perhaps be a hint as to the direction that tablet development is heading? However, this does not mean that smaller screen tablets won’t benefit as well.

The Empty App Store

The problem with the initial release of Honeycomb was the lack of compatible apps for the OS. When Motorola announced the Xoom at the 2011 CES, no apps were yet available, and only 16 had been developed for the OS by the time it released the last week of Feb. 2011. Part of the reason was that the Android 3.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) had not been made available to developers yet. Nevertheless, several weeks later Google announced its availability and as of March, the Android Marketplace was sporting 60+ Honeycomb Apps-finally.

This number will increase drastically as the Android tablet market expands, which is a given as developers are hungry for a solid competitor to the iPad and its restrictive market. Most major manufacturers are either planning development or already developing Honeycomb specific tablets, and as they come to market, the number of Apps will expand as well.

The First Real Android Tablet

The first real tablet to come with Android Honeycomb 3.0 is the Motorola Xoom, which is a large screen, high-powered tablet released at the 2011 CES International with hopes of directly competing with the Apple iPad, and might as well have been built specifically for Honeycomb. There are others, such as the Samsung Galaxy S Tab 10.1 and the LG G-Slate, which are larger screen models as well as designed with Android Honeycomb 3.0 in mind. Part of the reason for the lackluster performance of first generation Android tablets against the iPad was the lack of an OS that was designed specifically for tablets. Android 2.2 is a well-developed smartphone OS, but lacks support for critical aspects of tablet operation that finally Honeycomb provided.

A Fast Start

Many of the initial Apps should be ports of existing and popular Android 2.2 apps, but we should expect to see native tablet apps in increasing number as well. The entire Android ecosystem is open source, and the Android 3.0 SDK is free to download. Developing an App takes only time and there are no restrictive policies for posting them on the Android marketplace. The combination of these factors and the huge success of Android with smartphone manufacturers will insure that by mid-2011 there will be many Honeycomb tablets and thousands of Apps. The cost of the tablets will begin to come down and Apple may find it harder going in the tablet marketplace, one that is expected to become the number one venue for mobile Internet access.
